Support for the Hudson Opera House

Last night, the Common Council held a special meeting to consider a resolution in support of the Hudson Opera House's application for a Rural Areas Revitalization Program grant. Betsy Kimball, director of development for HOH, explained that the grant would be used to add an elevator to the Hudson Opera House--the first ever in the building. The elevator, which will go from the basement of the building to the second floor performance space, is part of the final phase of restoration, which Kimball reported is now in the final design stage.

The vote among the aldermen present at the special meeting [Nick Haddad (First Ward), Abdus Miah and Wanda Pertilla (Second Ward), Ohrine Stewart (Fourth Ward), Robert Donahue and Cappy Pierro (Fifth Ward)] and Council President Don Moore was unanimous in support of the resolution.
