Hudson in 1905: Part 20

The following is an excerpt from the booklet Illustrated Hudson, N.Y., published in 1905.

SHOOK & RORABACK--Groceries, Etc. No. 709 Warren street. Telephone 43-M. Columbia 176. One of the most up-to-date business establishments in the city is that which is managed under the title of Shook & Roraback. They first opened up business some nine years ago, and since then have succeeded in building up a very profitable and enduring trade. The house does business upon a strictly weekly payment basis, and is managed upon principles of honesty and fair dealing. The proprietors are both men of mature experience in the grocery trade, and give their entire attention to the undertaking. All the leading brands of grocers' supplies are carried--teas, coffees, spices, canned and bottled goods, specialties being made of provisions, country produce, and fruits, together with the choicest flours. The firm occupies two floors, and employs four clerks. All orders are handled promptly and delivered to any address in the city.

  1. At some point in time an interior door was installed between this building and 711 next door. 711 was turned into a formal dining hall for a restaurant based in 709.
