Hudson in 1905: Part 51

The following is an excerpt from the booklet Illustrated Hudson, N.Y., published in 1905.

J. N. DYER--Dealer in Wines, Liquors, and Cigars. Agent for Chas. Feigenspan's Ale and Lager. 201 Warren street. This well-known establishment has been in business for the past five years, and in that time has attained a reputation as one of the best cafes in the city, where only the best of everything is served, and where customers are treated with the greatest courtesy. A fine line of the best brands of wines, liquors and cigars are carried. Mr. Dyer is a business man of exceptionable ability, and knows how to cater to the wants of his patrons, and spares no efforts to make his place one of the most popular in the city. He has been in the wholesale beer business in Hudson for fourteen years, representing the firm above, of which he is sole agent.

Gossips Note: Although there were at least three breweries in Hudson in 1905, Gossips research discovered that Chas. Feigenspan's Ale and Lager seems to have been produced not in Hudson but in Newark, New Jersey. The picture of the brewery below was found on a fascinating blog called Rick's Bottle Room.
