Views of Wyndcliffe

Exploring the origin of the expression "keeping up with the Joneses" led to the discovery that its inspiration was Wyndcliffe, a grand house in Rhinebeck, built for Elizabeth Schermerhorn Jones in 1852. Today, Wyndcliffe is a magnificent ruin, and legend has it that the ghost of Miss Jones interferes to prevent the house from being restored. Gossips' attention to Wyndcliffe prompted a reader to share these pictures of Wyndcliffe, taken in 2003.
