Architectural Accolades

Yesterday, the work wall at 255 Warren Street was removed to reveal the newly reconstructed storefront. The picture at right shows what the facade looked like a year ago. The picture below, taken at about 5:30 yesterday, shows some of what's been going on behind that work wall over the past months.

Bravo to Michael Harris and Christopher Haupert for this lovely change in the streetscape.

  2. As a member of the D'Onofrio family, the bldg. owners from early 1900's to mid 1970's, I want to state that the restoration is a welcome sign.
My Grandfather, Gennarino D'Onofrio, operated a shoe store (actually made, sold & repaired shoes) & a restaurant at 255. After his death my Uncle "Buddy" owned & operated the restaurant/tavern. My Aunt Marie operated a Beauty Salon on the 2nd story.
The D'Onofrio family lived on the 2nd level. The family immigrated many relatives by offering a place to live, work & a new life in America.
