There's Still Time

The Gossips editorial advisory board will be meeting on Sunday afternoon at an undisclosed (except to them) location to review the sentences suggested by Gossips readers and select the ten best. (Such a subjective thing.) Many of you have already submitted sentences for consideration, but if you haven't, there is still time. Email your sentences to Gossips before noon on Sunday, April 13, and your suggestions will be in the mix when the editorial advisory board does its mulling and agonizing.

We're looking for your choice of a sentence, written in English, that stopped you in your tracks, a sentence that stunned you with its profundity, its truth, its ability to provoke thought or emotion, a sentence that you savored and remember or wrote down somewhere so you wouldn't forget. It can be from fiction or nonfiction, but it must be a sentence encountered while reading not one heard in a movie. In imitation of The American Scholar, Gossips will publish its list of the ten best sentences on Wednesday, April 16.
