Late last month, the Science section of the New York Times had an article about scientists' efforts to understand why the emerald ash borer is harmless to Manchurian ash trees in East Asia, where the pest comes from, but deadly to North American ash trees: "The Slow Process of Countering the Emerald Ash Borer."
