Of Interest

In today's Register-Star, John Mason reports on last night's vote on the referendum to amend the Council's weighted vote system: "One person, one vote squeaks by in Council." Of greatest interest in Mason's value added coverage of the vote is a quote from the mayor, contacted by Mason after the meeting, who says he's going to have to read the resolution "to look at exactly what they passed," before deciding if he will sign it or veto it. The resolution has been available to all on the city website for more than a week.
