Nevermind . . .

On December 4, Gossips reported on a proposal before the Planning Board to turn the space next to Ör, now used as a parking lot, into what was variously described (by various people) as a public park, a garden, and an expanded outdoor seating area for Ör.

Although the plan was touted as an enhancement to one of the city's gateways, not everyone embraced the idea. To hear comments from the community, the Planning Board scheduled a public hearing on the project to be held on Wednesday, January 13. Gossips has recently learned that the application for site plan approval of the park/garden has been withdrawn, and the public hearing has been cancelled.

  1. Notwithstanding the proposal's other virtues or drawbacks, the total volume of stormwater runoff currently generated by Ör's impervious, 3,382 square-foot parking lot is more than 80,000 gallons a year.

The owners' stated interest in mitigating runoff with green infrastructure should be commended.

    1. I forgot to say that the garden itself would have functioned as the runoff-reducing green infrastructure.
