March Madness Comes to Hudson

After their win on Wednesday night, the Hudson High School boys basketball was ranked No. 7 in the state. Today, at 4:30, at SUNY Potsdam, Hudson takes on Section X champion Ogdensburg Free Academy in a quarterfinal contest. The winner of today's game will advance to the state semifinals.

This is a great moment for Hudson High School. This basketball team is the most successful Bluehawks basketball team ever.

While everyone anxiously awaits the outcome of today's game, Gossips wants to share a bit of local basketball trivia learned from former HCSD Board of Education member Peter Meyer. Zach Hedgepeth, the top scorer on the undefeated Bluehawks team, is, of course, the son of Tyrone Hedgepeth, the program supervisor at the Hudson Youth Center. In his day, Tyrone Hedgepeth was also a formidable basketball player. Congressman Chris Gibson can and will attest to this. He played against Hedgepeth in high school---Hedgepeth for Hudson, Gibson for Ichabod Crane.

Go Bluehawks!
