Shop Local, Eat Local, Vote Local

The deadline for registering to vote in order to cast a ballot in the November 8 election is October 14. The proposition to eliminate the weighted voting system in Hudson and redraw the ward boundaries to create voting districts of equal population will be on that ballot.

Tomorrow--Saturday, September 17--the Fair & Equal Campaign will be conducting a day-long registration drive. From 9 a.m. until noon, they will be at the Hudson Farmers' Market; from 12:30 p.m until 5 p.m., they will be in front of 347 Warren Street.

As we have seen over and over, local elections are won and lost by just a few votes--sometimes by only one vote. New residents and part-time residents of Hudson are encouraged to register in Columbia County and vote where it counts. The the Fair & Equal Campaign has created a Resource Page for second home owners to answer questions about New York State Election Law as it pertains to voting from a second home.
