It's Here!

To some, it's an idea whose time has come. To others, it's an unsightly carbuncle on the stately facade of the 110-year-old bank building that is now City Hall. Whatever your feelings about the vending machine that will be dispensing the essential blue trash bags 24/7, it was delivered to 520 Warren Street on Friday and now awaits its unveiling. Peter Jung provided Gossips with these pictures of the object, which he calls "the Dreaded Thing."

Unfortunately, it appears that the efforts to make the object blend into its context may have succeeded in making it nothing more than a garish caricature, but time will tell. It will likely be unveiled on Monday, probably without a great deal of ceremony.

  1. I would think that the Historic Preservation Commission would have something to say about this. What's the point in having magnificent architecture if you're going to make the place look like the entrance to WalMart?

  3. 1) The city has a skunk problem.

    2) People who live in the city put their garbage outside in these bags.

    3) The skunks rip open the bags.

    4) Garbage gets everywhere.

    5) ????

    6) Vending machine!

  4. And the women who were selling the bags for the city? What of them?
