Behold the Crosswalks

At 2:00 p.m. today, Gossips got word that DPW had painted crosswalks at Third and State. I rushed across town, and there they were--authorized crosswalks created with the official white retroflective pavement marking lines.

It appeared, however, that the job wasn't finished. The crosswalk spanning State Street on the east side of Third was complete, as was the crosswalk spanning Third Street on the north side of State.

But the crosswalk spanning State Street on the west side of Third was only partially done, and crossing Third Street on the south side of State, the guerrilla crosswalk remained.

When Gossips asked DPW superintendent Rob Perry why all four crosswalks had not been completed, he explained that some roadwork needed to be done before the thermoplastic resin used to create the zebra stripes could be applied.

Update: At 3:00 p.m., the crew returned to finish the job.

  1. yeah, great job, only because they were forced to do it. It's simple, and sad: If there we no rogue crosswalks, we'd have no DPW crosswalks. Not this year, at least.
