(I called him Officer Bill.)<br /><br />When he first started on the force, he was called out to my neighborhood one day. There was a lot of waiting around time, and we quickly fell into talking: where we grew up, our heritage, our childhood memories, that sort of thing. He never forgot that, nor did I.<br /><br />In my experience, despite any other troubles he may have had, he was the very image of that cop that Chief Moore wants for the world. A people person, he was always involved with this community whether on or off duty. His first instinct was to reach out, and he was at heart a gentle man. <br /><br />I know I said this already, but he'd greet me - just some guy in the community - with my first name!<br /><br />We can scarcely afford to lose a man like that.
