At 8:45 a.m. this morning, a reader observed an orange and blue cement truck at the southernmost edge of the paved area beyond Basilica Hudson, dumping leftover cement into South Bay. He went down to investigate and took these pictures.
Aerial photographs from the 1940s suggest that it was once common practice to clean out cement trucks and dump the slurry in South Bay along Route 9G. It seems the practice continues.
WTF ?
ReplyDeleteCan your reporter bring this to the DA? The AG? DEC? Is Holcim or whomever is running the show down there contractually on the hook for their customers'/employees'/contractors' illegal acts? What can the City do?
ReplyDeleteJohn--In this case, I doubt that Holcim has anything to do with it. This was a cement company delivering cement to some construction site in Hudson, and it's unclear who, of anyone, told the driver he could do this. We now know the name of the company whose truck it was, and I'm trying to figure out where it was delivering the cement. Possibilities are Hudson Terrace or the waste water treatment plant, but it could have been someplace else altogether.
ReplyDeleteWhat time was it? A gravel truck, followed by a cement truck barrelling down Green St at 11 am this morning nearly ran me over at the light at State and Green.
