Gossips Does Not Win Award
A loyal reader did me the great honor of nominating The Gossips of Rivertown for an Excellence in Preservation Award, presented by the Preservation League of New York State, in the category of Publication. Gossips was not chosen to receive the award, but I'm grateful to have been nominated and flattered by the kind things Jay DiLorenzo, president of the Preservation League, had to say in his letter informing me that Gossips had been passed over: "We commend you for making use of new technology and social media to advance the goals of historic preservation. Yours was the first blog ever considered for an Excellence in Preservation Award, and we urge you to continue to use your considerable skills to influence public opinion in favor of historic preservation."
Congratulations on the praise that you did receive! Well done and well deserved.
