In the eleventh hour, Chris Gilbert, owner of the Cannonball Factory, has emerged as an interested buyer for the former CC Club. Gilbert is quoted in the Register-Star as saying, “I’ve admired the building for some time . . . and when I heard it was going to be demolished I felt like it would be a nice thing for the community and for everyone involved to try and preserve it. It’s an interesting building, and it’s worthy to salvage.” The City has given Gilbert until the close of business on Friday to negotiate a sale with Kim Singletary and the Overcomers Ministries.
