Better But Still Not Good
Billy Shannon reports in today's Register-Star on the graduation rate in the Hudson City School District: "Hudson grad rate improves, but still low." The report, published by the University of the State of New York, indicates that 63.3 percent of HCSD students who entered ninth grade in 2007 graduated in 2011. This is an improvement over 2010, when the graduation rate was 59.3 percent. The most disturbing statistic may be the graduation rate among female students: only 55.7 percent of female students graduated in four years as compared with 70.1 percent of male students.
