Claverack School Back in the News
Nathan Mayberg reports today in the Register-Star that the HCSD Board of Education voted unanimously to sell the Claverack School to an undisclosed buyer for an undisclosed amount, which one board member later said was $390,000: "Board votes to sell school to secret buyer." The identity of the buyer cannot remain secret forever. It's unlikely that the rules have changed since 2005 when the Hudson Area Library bought 400 State Street from the Hudson City School District. Back then we learned that a public referendum is required to approve the sale whenever the school district wants divest itself of real property. So we can expect this sale will be the subject of a referendum in May, and the buyer and the price will then have to be revealed.
