Because Hudson is considered part of the Capital Region, and trips to Albany are a frequent occurrence for many of us, this article, which appeared this week in the Hudson Valley Post, will be of interest: "'Everyone Wants to Move' to the 'Ugliest' Place in New York."

Robert Moses failed in his attempt to dynamite Brooklyn Heights, but he got his way on the Albany waterfront.
ReplyDeleteThe article seems to contradict the title. I've been to Albany many times whether to visit friends, try a new restaurant or attend an event at The Egg or MVP Center. Like anywhere, there are nice areas and "not so nice" areas. Let's face it, there are places in Hudson I don't think are so beautiful either, but would I call Hudson ugly? Any way, I always viewed Albany as the Capital District, not really part of the Hudson Valley.
ReplyDeleteI find Albany to be ugly and difficult to navigate. The arcitecture recalls early Soviet Union.
ReplyDeleteLike Albany, Hudson can also be ugly when viewing it from a distance. From Athens and the river, all you see is the Collarusso gravel dump and Hudson Terrace. From land, all you see is the hospital, Bliss Towers and the Vinyl Village.
ReplyDeleteThe Empire State Plaza in Albany is reminiscent of Pyongyang, North Korea. I’m afraid that Hudson might also copy Albany in that aspect if all the large scale housing projects get built.
