Over the years, Gossips has reported on a number of trucks that have strayed off the truck route and gotten stuck on our narrow streets. Here is the latest incident, which happened today.

I do not know the circumstances that led to a truck of this size attempting to execute of righthand turn off Warren Street onto Second Street, but I question the judgment of the driver who tried to make that turn, no matter what his GPS was telling him. COPYRIGHT 2024 CAROLE OSTERINK
It was likely headed to Harney or the sauerkraut factory on 2nd Street extension. The question is, did it eventually head down the 2nd street hill like so many other tractor trailers do but are not supposed to, or did it get to Front and Dock Streets as it should have? The truck route is generally poorly signed and completely inadequately signed on and west of 3rd Street along the delivery truck route. There is no one to take responsibility for this, not even Margaret Morris of the so-called truck route committee.
ReplyDeleteThat turn is almost impossible in your car Carole. There are always cars on both sides.
