Eleanor's Legacy Announces Endorsements

Eleanor's Legacy announced its endorsements today. More than 150 pro-choice Democratic women running for state and local offices across New York State have been endorsed, among them Margaret Morris, who is running for Hudson Common Council President.

Inspired the dynamic legacy of Eleanor Roosevelt and her dedication to expanding the role of women in government, Eleanor's Legacy was founded in 2001 by Judith Hope, the first woman to chair the New York State Democratic Committee. For more than twenty years, Eleanor's Legacy has been supporting pro-choice Democratic women running for state and local office throughout New York State. Two candidates running in Columbia County were endorsed by Eleanor's Legacy--Morris and Jacqueline Salvatore, who is running for County Sheriff. 2. Wise endorsement! Three great Margaret qualities I admire:

1️⃣ No ego: not in it for the power or praise.
2️⃣ Data driven: she follows the facts.
3️⃣ Prepared: she does the reading.

I know Margaret will serve 1st Ward interests (and if elected city-wide) City interests, regardless of individual politics, nationality, race, income, or special affinity group membership that may impact the topic of the day.

I say this because Margaret and I actually do not agree on that many national issues... but I respect her well thought-out and consistent views nationally and locally.

Margaret and I didn't meet for years, but she called me once thinking that I could vote in her first write-in campaign in the 1st Ward... I immediately informed her of her error.... but she stayed on the line, I was jetlagged and it was late, and I probably spoke with her for 20 plus minutes about the virtues of classical liberalism, why Union Street should maybe be a one way street, and why I had to buy blue bags if I already paid so much in taxes. She was very kind and politely explained the byzantine nuances to me

We didn't meet in person for another year or more... but she kept me appraised of her work for the 1st ward, even knowing that I can't vote. Only later did I notice that she was perhaps the only, or one of three, Common Council members who read the fine-print, and if the City listened to her we could have saved a lot more money and time.

☘️ The Irish, compared to other European nations, missed the empire-building memo—they were too busy exporting stories, empathy, surnames (babies), jokes, and hard work.

    Kinda like Margaret.

p.s. Peter Spear (Future Hudson)... Mr. Citizen Assembly... Ireland had arguably the best and most consequential Citizen Assembly in the world, ever... that lead to changing their constitution on a sensitive topic (abortion).

Maybe track down some local Irish who participated and have them share their experiences?
