Great interview by Lance. Very personable and comfortable in his skin fellow this guy Bailey. A former music teacher (Allelujah!) who says his job is to listen. That's already miles ahead of our last two superintendents -- who didn't listen and even when they tried, had tin ears. By the same token, BAiley's taking over a district in academic shreds -- not mentioned in the interview -- as an "interim" and one wonders what the plan for literacy improvement is--starting now? Is the board strong enough to take bold action on literacy? Now? Can they do that while finding a "permanent" replacement? Is Bailey in the running? Did they quiz on that subject before hiring him? Is this going to be (another) wasted year for kids trying to get an education? Does the community care? -- peter meyer
