Peter Spear, who is not running for mayor although his name will still appear on the ballot, did one of this signature "Alley Chats" this morning, in which he speaks of incumbent mayor Kamal Johnson as a conflict entrepreneur. The concept of a conflict entrepreneur comes from the work of Amanda Ripley, and Spear explains a conflict entrepreneur as "someone who thrives on division and conflict and sees it as a resource." Spear goes on to say, "What you'll see from a conflict entrepreneur is that they are very good at inflaming conflict but you will not catch them resolving conflict."

ReplyDeleteI used to regularly walk to the second floor of City Hall to ask Rob Perry a question or two about DPW-related activities that were puzzling to me, or activity that was non-existent (like filling potholes and replacing loose and noisy manhole covers). He was never in the DPW offices, and his clerks would laugh and say HE'S NEVER HERE!
Usually I would head over to ask the mayor and/or his aide a question or three, often first asking: "Do you know where Rob Perry works from?" A year or two ago, after Kamal was as usual not answering any of my questions, he told me to leave the hallway in front of his office. In the middle of a heated exchange, the mayor of Hudson then pointed to the purple canvas bag I regularly tote around and said with a smirk, "Nice purple bag, Bill."
Kamal's maturity level is just as frighteningly low as president Chump's is. Neither of them should be in charge of any organization or dealing with humans in any professional capacity.
