Brian Mahoney reviews one of Hudson's newest restaurants in Chronogram: "Mr. Cat Brasserie Reimagines Kitty's in Hudson." The following is quoted from the review:
On a recent evening, the dining room hummed with the kind of energy restaurateurs spend years trying to manufacture. During the course of dinner, I spotted artists, musicians, writers, and assorted members of Hudson's cultural ecosystem. Some lingered at the bar, others clustered around tables. The atmosphere felt lively but never scene-y, stylish but never self-conscious. People seemed genuinely happy to be there.
I didn't know that we have a cultural ecosystem.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to trying it. The menu reminds me of Arielle in Rhinebeck, which I still miss even though it closed ten years ago.
ReplyDeleteMenu does seem pleasantly grounded and while I wouldn't call it a steal for everyone, it's more reasonable than I expected. It didn't fall into the trap of impersonating a Micheline-starred restaurant. Props to Ben for that!
DeleteI went last week and enjoyed it. Even though it’s “new,” it seems to be running well already. The interior revamp looks good and overall the food was great and “reasonably” priced (for Hudson). My only gripe, which carries over from the last iteration, is that they could use some sound proofing in the dining area, as it was hard to hear my company over dinner. Or maybe I’m getting old. That’s usually not a problem at the bar, which is quite comfortable and my usual spot when it was Kitty’s.
