Ear to the Ground

Gossips has learned that Liz Yorck has resigned her position as director of the Hudson Youth Department and will be leaving at the end of June. No information is available about the reasons for her resignation or what her future plans are.

Yorck became youth director in May 2021, bringing a new level of competence and professionalism to the role. Calvin Lewis, currently assistant director, will acting as interim director until a replacement for Yorck can be named.

  1. 🧐 Maybe this is why Calvin missed the last HCSD budget meeting vote?

  2. It's possible that Liz just never wanted to step foot again into her summer office inside the bathhouse building at Oakdale, which is probably a sick building and should have been knocked down and replaced years ago. I wouldn't want to spend much time in there, no way. The structure has had water leakage problems from the roof and below for years, including freezing and broken pipes in the winter, which Liz was aware of, and water leaks often mean mold. Indeed, the building does not smell right. No one should be asked to spend any amount of time in there. There was talk of replacing the building a few years ago, then nothing. With a slim budget that can't afford much of anything new, the building will remain and employees will be expected to endure what is in the air inside that leaky building whether they know it's good for them or not.
That building is a disgrace (have you been in the bathrooms?) and reflects poorly on the city and Kamal Johnson. Maybe his office should be in there for the summers. Maybe then he'll get the whole thing replaced.

  3. I do not know Ms Yorck well, but from the limited interactions I had with her, I could tell she was a big step up from the previous director.

Wishing her the best in her future endeavors.
