everyone got his own chair. In the HCSD game of musical chairs, Stevie Spicer and Tommy Gavin, who didn't seem to be very good at sharing, don't have to share a chair anymore.
Tonight at the Board of Education meeting, Steven Spicer was terminated as co-principal of Hudson High School and was appointed principal of John L. Edwards Primary School, to replace Carol Gans, who announced her retirement in August 2010, and Thomas Gavin was terminated as co-principal of Hudson High School and appointed principal--the sole possessor of that position--of Hudson High School.
Now I'm not a parent of school-aged children--or of any children for that matter--and my knowledge of education is derived only from 30 years of working in school publishing, but it seems to me that being the principal of a school filled with kids between the ages of 5 and 8 requires a whole different set of personal qualities and skills than being the principal of a schoolful of teenagers. And to an outsider looking in, rewarding someone who, according to all reports, behaved in an extremely unprofessional manner in a public meeting with what he apparently wanted all along sends a very bad message. But who am I to say?
Ditto. I'm speechless. Debby.
