Too bad the hosts dumped the garbage down by the river.
A reader discovered and photographed this on Friday evening: the garbage from a feast of clams and king crab legs, dumped and rotting between Broad Street and the Holcim gates.
Probably someone who didn't want seafood sitting around all weekend in their blue-bag trash, which would lead one to guess it's from a small private party.
Does anyone recognize the purple, plastic mesh bag used for the clams? It's likely from Price Chopper or Shop Rite, unless there's another fish market around here. Any ideas?
I know of at least one HPD officer who despises illegal dumping. He helped apprehend the cement waste dumpers last year (in the R&S parking lot; Gossips led the story).
The purple half-bushel bag and loose crab legs indicate that this was a Price Chopper purchase, but there I was informed that so many people bought littlenecks and snow crab legs for Memorial Day that no one could possibly track down the culprit.
In that case it's up to someone to turn in their party hosts ...
Please communicate the information to the excellent Officer Dean Rowe, of the HPD.

Let's provide the HPD with some clues.

To the credit of the city, today the DPW removed the rotting seafood from the city property outside the Holcim gates.
ReplyDeleteThank you to the worker who carried away those revolting, 10-day old sacks of dead shellfish and snow crabs. Disgusting!
