  1. Will this (and the HPD union's request for more retirement funds) create more friction between City Hall and HPD? I witnessed that friction at a HPD committee meeting last year when off-duty and on-duty officers filled the clerk's office area to show unity when something was being negotiated. It was more like bullying or coercion, and kinda scary.

  2. The police contract wasn’t being negotiated at that meeting, and that was the problem. Members of our esteemed legislative body delayed discussions, which, if prolonged, would have wasted more taxpayer money had the contract gone to arbitration. Personally, I was more upset when a video was published showing the Youth Dept filling the room during budget negotiations to try to shame the budget committee, and someone in the the audience threw dog feces at the mayor.

    1. the bag of poop was disgusting and the youth department NOT denouncing that, was much worse

  3. Hi Jeffrey, you must have been confusing this with another incident, because I unequivocally denounced the action at that very meeting. I then repeated this denouncement at subsequent common council meetings and the next youth committee meeting. There is lots going on these days so I understand the difficulty in keeping track of these things, so no hard feelings.

    1. The problem Nick is how smug you were about it outside of meetings. Maybe that's where the confusion came from.
