The following invitation to the event appeared on Facebook:
At 3 p.m. this Sunday, please join with leaders of many faiths as we come together in solidarity with all those mourning black and brown lives lost to state violence. We will gather along the fence at First Presbyterian Church, 369 Warren St. in Hudson. We will pray. We will sing. We will renew out commitments to work together to end white supremacy and systemic racism. Church bells at First Presbyterian, Christ Church Episcopal, and Green St. Reformed Church will be rung as names of the lives lost are read.
The church fence at First Presbyterian has become an altar for our community. Pieces of ribbon and fabric with prayers written on them are tied to the fence as an offering of sorrows, hopes, and prayers during this time of social distancing. Any participants are welcome to bring objects, ribbons, fabric, vigil candles, photographs, or signs, to leave at the church fence as they part.
