Just yesterday, someone asked if Winter Walk was going to happen again this year. I did not know the answer. But today, the following press release was issued by the mayor's office.
The Foundry at Hudson, in partnership with the City of Hudson, announces plans to produce Winter Walk on December 6, 2025. The popular holiday street festival, approaching its 29th year, will take place on Warren Street in Hudson from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and aims to feature dozens of street performers, food vendors, two performance stages, shops open late with in-store performances, fireworks and more!
The Foundry at Hudson, which joined the City to produce Winter Walk last year, emphasizes that community wide participation and support are critical to the event's success. "While we're delighted again [to] have lead funding from the Galvan Foundation to present the event this year, we'll be tapping the incredible creativity and energy of the greater Hudson community to make Winter Walk a success," says Foundry Executive Director, Timothy Banker. "In the next couple of months, we'll be pounding the Hudson pavement looking for financial sponsorships, local artists to bring imaginative performances to the street, shops to participate in the festivities, and local vendors and restaurants to provide the great street food."
The Foundry at Hudson will, in the next few weeks, publish a Winter Walk website to serve as the center for communication about the event. In the meantime, those who wish to support Winter Walk, or to participate in it, are encouraged to email info@foundryhudson.org to register their interest and to learn the latest concerning Winter Walk planning.
Mayor Kamal Johnson, who has overseen Winter Walk on behalf of the City of Hudson for the last six years, is a firm believer in the value of the Winter Walk tradition. "Winter Walk rebounded last year after an initial possibility of cancellation. With the assistance of The Foundry at Hudson, we were able to deliver one of the best and most well-attended Winter Walks ever. This year, we are planning to usher in the 29th Winter Walk with the same cherished traditions and a few new surprises. Winter Walk is the one event where we can all put aside our differences and mix and mingle and get caught up in the holiday spirit."
Santa Claus will of course be in attendance for Winter Walk 2025 and will visit with children, both naughty and nice, at Hudson's City Hall.
