Meetings and Events in the Week Ahead

In the second full week of September, here is what's happening.
  • On Monday, September 11, the Common Council holds its informal meeting at 6:00 p.m. Among the agenda items is a proposed local law amending Chapter 65 of the city code. Currently, the consumption of beer and wine at events on City property is only allowed, with the proper permits, in Henry Hudson Riverfront Park. The proposed amendment would allow alcoholic beverages to be served at events at the public boat launch, Seventh Street Park, Promenade Hill, and on any public street or City property, with a permit issued at the discretion of the mayor. This proposed law did not come through the Legal Committee, which was the process in the past, so it is not clear by whom it was initiated or what motivated it. The informal Council meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at the Central Fire Station, 77 North Seventh Street, and on Zoom. Click here to join the meeting remotely.
  • On Tuesday, September 12, the Planning Board meets at 6:00 p.m. The agenda includes several projects that have been before the Planning Board for a while--the new location of Lil' Deb's Oasis, the subdivision proposed for Hudson Avenue, and boutique hotel proposed for 601 Union Street. New on the agenda are site plan amendments to the hotel project proposed by the Galvan Foundation for the buildings at the corner of Warren and North Fourth streets. The meeting is hybrid, taking place in person at the Central Fire Station, 77 North Seventh Street, and on Zoom. Click here to join the meeting remotely.
  • On Thursday, September 14, at 6:00 p.m., the Hudson Area Library and the Hendrick Hudson Chapter of the DAR present "Hudson and Its Whaling Roots," a local history talk by Carl Whitbeck. The talk takes place in person in the Community Room of the library, 51 North Fifth Street.
  • On Sunday, September 17, at 4:00 p.m., there is a celebration of Rosh Hashanah at Promenade Hill. Click here for more information.
