The lede article in the Register-Star this morning had a headline that might have been written by the incumbent mayor himself: "Margin narrows in undecided Hudson mayoral election."
In addition to reporting the results of yesterday's affidavit ballot count, the article contains some information about ballots still outstanding and uncounted. It reports that, according to Mara Estribou, Democratic Commissioner of Elections, there are 40 mail-in ballots—both absentee and vote-by-mail—that have not yet been received, and 8 overseas absentee ballots. With 48 ballots still uncounted, Joe Ferris is leading Kamal Johnson by 45 votes.
The deadline for receiving the mail-in ballots is tomorrow, November 12. The overseas ballots must be received by Monday, November 17. So it will be another week before this is all over.
Corrigendum: I have been advised that the Register-Star incorrectly reported the number of ballots outstanding. The 40 mail-in ballots still outstanding includes the 8 overseas ballots. The number of ballots still to be counted is 40 not 48.
The outstanding ballots could not make Johnson the winner, but it could narrow the margin to 20 or fewer, thus triggering a hand count to confirm the results.

And finally you know get the trigger of a recount, I’m not saying any candidate won. But a recount should be in order.
