Latest News of the Mayoral Race

The election happened more than a week ago, and it is not clear if it is over yet or not . . . at least when it comes to the Hudson mayoral race. Today was the deadline for the Board of Elections to receive mail-in ballots--both absentee and vote-by-mail--that were not overseas ballots. Yesterday, we reported that there were 32 such ballots out there. It is not known if any of those were received and counted today, but the BOE is reporting a change in the results, as of about an hour ago.

Kamal Johnson has picked up 4 more votes, bringing the margin between him and Joe Ferris to 41 votes. The numbers being reported now are Ferris 958 and Johnson 917.

UPDATE: The Columbia County Board of Elections made the following statement this afternoon about the Hudson mayoral race.

This statement says 5 write-in votes were added to Kamal Johnson's total. The unofficial election results reported on the website, however, indicate Johnson gained 4 votes, and Ferris gained 1.

Time for Kamal to concede and for the hard-work to begin to repair trust, grow the City, and treat everyone as equals.
