Meanwhile, let's take a look at how the various wards in our little city voted. Ferris had his strongest support in the First Ward--the ward where Johnson resides.
FIRST WARD
Ferris 315
Johnson 103
Koedding 16
Spear 5
His next highest numbers were in the Third and Fourth wards.
THIRD WARD
Ferris 228
Johnson 164
Koedding 11
Spear 3
FOURTH WARD
Ferris 180
Johnson 137
Koedding 14
Spear 6
Johnson, on the other hand, had his biggest support in the Fifth Ward--the ward where Ferris lives.
FIFTH WARD
Ferris 139
Johnson 290
Koedding 18
Spear 2
His second strongest showing was in the Second Ward.
SECOND WARD
Ferris 79
Johnson 190
Koedding 8
Spear 2
It's not clear what "things about this election" Johnson is questioning, but we are all looking forward to it being "all ironed out."

Johnson only getting 190 votes in the Second Ward says something.
ReplyDeleteThere was an amusing interaction on Instagram months ago between Peter Spear and Quintin Cross where Quintin called the second ward a "sleeping giant" and claimed it would come out in force for Kamal.
DeleteAt the time, the first thought that popped into my head was why it was asleep in the first place.
It's remarkable to me how Margaret with 182 votes almost matched Kamal's tally.
The absentee ballots already counted skew much higher towards Joe. My theory is that Kamal and friends are putting their hope into provisional affidavit ballots, which my guess are just people that showed up who are unregistered, or moved out of Hudson to Greenport or the like and insist they should be on the voter rolls. What usually happens is that they get a ballot to fill out, but it doesn’t get counted. They save them for later to review if indeed it’s from a valid registered resident. I don’t think there are many votes that can be scrounged from that. Shock and disbelief are the first stages of grief.
ReplyDeleteI just got an email from the BOE and there is a large batch of early mail ballots that are getting processed and loaded up on the BOE site tonight.
ReplyDeleteKamal's tally in the Fifth Ward is as interesting, possibly more as a cautionary tale. If the BOE hasn't called the mayoral race the explanation likely lies with the total number of absentees who filed their ballots by the deadline. For Kamal to prevail he needs as many votes in the official ballot count as seperated him from Joe, plus fifty-one percent of the remaining number of absentees. The deadline for the BOE to receive absentee ballots was election day.
ReplyDeleteI believe Election Day is the postmark deadline, not the date I wish the ballot must be received.
DeleteAgreed. The posting deadline is Election Day. They must be received within, I believe, a week to be counted.
