In the first full week of May, here is what's happening.
- On Tuesday, May 6, the Conservation Advisory Council meets at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at City Hall and on Microsoft Teams. Click here for the link to join the meeting remotely.
- Also on Tuesday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m., the Planning Board holds the long-awaited public hearing on Colarusso's application for a conditional use permit for its dock operations. The hearing takes place at the Central Fire Station, 77 North Seventh Street. Despite requests that the meeting be hybrid, there is no indication that it will be a hybrid or that it will even be livestreamed. This information has been provided about the hearing: "All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard in person or by directing comments in writing to the Planning Board, at lfenoff@cityofhudson.org, by 4 p.m. the day of the hearing." - On Wednesday, May 7, the Hudson Industrial Development Agency (IDA) meets at 9:30 a.m. It is possible that at this meeting the IDA will vote on whether or not to grant a PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) and other tax abatements to the primarily market rate apartment building proposed by the Galvan Foundation for 75 North Seventh Street. - Also on Wednesday, May 7, the Common Council Legal Committee meets at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at City Hall and on Microsoft Teams. Click here for the link to join the meeting remotely.
- On Friday, May 9, the Historic Preservation Commission meets at 10:00 a.m. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at City Hall and on Microsoft Teams. Click here for the link to join the meeting remotely.
- On Saturday, May 10, it is the official opening of the 28th season of the Hudson Farmers' Market. The market is open from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 pm. The annual ceremonial ribbon cutting with the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce takes place at 9:30 a.m.
- From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11, it is Basilica Farm & Flea Spring Market, featuring a curated group of more than one hundred regional businesses, offering family friendly workshops, fresh cut flowers, farm fresh and chef concocted hot foods, locally produced pantry items, vintage and handmade clothes, printed matter and artwork, home goods like wooden furniture and handblown glassware, even sunglasses made with primarily recycled plastics. The market takes place at Basilica Hudson, 110 South Front Street.
- At 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, the Mad Hatter's Parade steps off from the Hudson Area Library and wends its way to Promenade Hill. The parade route goes from the library to Warren Street along Fifth Street, then down Warren Street to Second Street. It makes a left turn at Second Street and follows Second to Allen Street. At Allen, it turns right and heads down to Front Street. It then makes another right and follows Front Street to the entrance to Promenade Hill.
