This morning, the Register-Star revealed what hit the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse: "Barge pushed by tugboat struck Hudson-Athens lighthouse." The tugboat was from Carver Marine Towing based in Coeymans. It is believed that weather may have been a factor in the accident. The captain of the tugboat has been suspended until an internal investigation is completed, and the company will be installing a new dock and repairing the stairs.
