Mystery Solved

Gossips didn't report on this last week when it originally happened, but the Register-Star did--twice: "Ex-Hudson mayoral aide finds dead fish on windshield" and "'Person of interest' photo released in Hudson fish-on-car case."

Although we ignored that story when it happened, Gossips finds the resolution of interest. Earlier today, Columbia County Morning News reported the outcome of the investigation:
The Hudson City Police Department has concluded its investigation, determining that the individual responsible was a cousin of Justin Weaver, who carried out the act as a prank.
According to an official statement, "As a follow-up to this matter, the suspect has been identified as an acquaintance of Mr. Weaver, and the act was intended as a practical joke. Consequently, the case is now closed."

Update: Since Gossips published this post, the Register-Star published its own story: "Fish on ex-mayoral aide Justin Weaver's windshield was prank, police say."

  1. Surprise, surprise 🤣 Also, who tipped off the Register-Star in the first place? 🤔

    1. Imagine if the Register Star spent half the time it spends on stories like this, or the HCHC parking sideshow, on actual issues:

      - City-wide tax reassessment
      - Charter Reform
      - Updating the Zoning

  2. For what it's worth, Weaver says it was not his cousin and neither have the police

    1. No we misspoke and it might not have been his cousin but yet his relatives, perhaps not his cousin- but yet that of his nephew…
This should have never been front page news, as a new reporter for the Register Star and causing huge alarm in a community we share, I certainly hope you learn this lesson going forward…

  3. This information is not correct however, not surprising that Gossips would take the word of a 10 time elder-abusing felon aka Jeffrey Yeh (Orendack) reporting it as factual, to reprint here as, you guessed it, gossip! The real story should be why Jeffrey is getting paid by the Grand at Barnwell when he should have nothing to do whatsoever with elder care, given his felonious track record. As for your quip Matt Parker AKA "Union Jack", I posted the fact that I found a fish on my windshield on my own Facebook page and the Register Star saw that post and ran with it. Stick to what you're good at, which is obviously not logical deduction or computation for that matter, judging from your disastrous stint in the Treasurer's office. Have a good day everyone. Happy I'm still on everyone's minds and covered by all local news outlets, legitimate or otherwise.

    1. Justin, the issue is that you requested confidential information from me that I am not authorized to disclose. As a PR representative for the Grand, I am not in a position to provide you with the details surrounding your father's passing, nor would I release such information without proper authorization. I will not provide access to sensitive information to facilitate potential litigation, especially considering your history of fabricating stories for personal gain. The release of your father's case file would require a court order, and even if I had access, which I do not, I would not provide it to you without one.
This is what you wanted from me, and I would not entertain your questions, even while you work for our then Hudson Mayor Kamal Johnson…

    2. A complete distortion of facts from a career criminal. You should not be employed there and receiving secret payments. I also keep receipts, like your initial reaction of "Oh fuck" when learning who was to become the new Mayoral Aide. How far down the rabbit hole would you like to travel? And please use a more recent photo of me when trying to disparage me by body shaming. I'm down 41 pounds. Thanks.

    3. The idea that the Register-Star trolls your facebook feed for inspiration is sad. Especially if they have to sort through all of those Wordle posts, like you’re my great aunt.

  4. In conclusion, our utmost respect is extended to the men and women of the Hudson City Police Department and their Chief Mishanda Franklin.

Amidst the recent turmoil, HPD demonstrated exceptional dedication while handling a child abduction case originating from Florida, which entails navigating Florida's distinct laws and collaborating with the Florida Department of Social Services. This week has been particularly demanding for the Hudson City Police Department, and it is noteworthy that they have successfully managed numerous cases beyond what is reflected in our weekly police reports. These efforts, often without fanfare, exemplify their commitment to duty. I commend HPD for their tireless efforts over the past week, which have been undertaken with minimal recognition from the community, and yet be able to get to the bottom line on this ‘Fishy case.

  5. Well this is the most bat-shit crazy thread I’ve read on Gossips in a dog’s age. It makes me so nostalgic for how fabulously weird this town used to be before COVID decimated the creative class in town. Let your respective freak flags fly y’all! And thanks for being yourselves!

  6. If the former mayor and his assistant spent less time on Facebook and more time governing they’d still be in office. Maybe they should take inspiration from the headlines and sue Meta for creating an addictive product.
