The Register-Star today reports on the outcome of Wedenesday's Board of Supervisors Public Works Committee meeting: "Columbia County committee OKs $320K proposal to fix Stuyvesant Falls Bridge." The proposal will go before the full Board at its meeting on Wednesday, April 8.

As a child spending weekends with Grandpa & Nannie LaBelle in Stuyvesant Falls I remember that bridge well. It stood out as a beauty then as it does now. As a teen I almost lost my life beneath it when I was dared to jump off the Lower Falls. That is neither here nor there but I sure do wish the stars would align to save that beauty. It is right near the former paper mill that is now the source of electricity for much of the village. So progress and the historic. How we can have both in a way that benefits the community? That is always the question. Anyway, I do still hope for that bridge…
