There's not much happening in the week between Thanksgiving and Winter Walk, except days of below freezing temperatures. While it's cold outside, here is what's happening.
- On Wednesday, December 4, the Common Council Legal Committee meets at 6:00 p.m. The proposed local law, making harassing a city official a Class B misdemeanor, is expected to be discussed. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at City Hall and on Microsoft Teams. Click here for the link to join the meeting remotely.
- On Thursday, December 5, the monthly meeting of the Columbia County Housing Task Force takes place at 4:00 p.m. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at One City Centre, Suite 301, and on Zoom. Click here to join the meeting remotely.
- On Saturday, December 7, it's Winter Walk 2024. The event takes place along Warren Street in Hudson from 5 to 8 p.m., culminating with fireworks. Click here for more information. Click here for the map showing the location of participating organizations, performers, and vendors.
Kudos to Timothy and Daniel for this great map:

There is already a law on the books for harassment. The most minor form of harassment is already a class B misdemeanor, so it seems redundant. I wonder what is motivating city officials to feel the need for special treatment and additions to the law that applies to everyone else.
ReplyDeleteThey are all frightened of criticism, stern voices, and people who pay attention and ask sometimes even the slightest difficult and probing questions of our so-called leaders, especially Tom. Speaking out of line or raising your voice to be heard or stopping department heads from failing to answer a simple question at a meeting is not a crime, unless of course your name is Bill Huston. Tom Depietro is a Trumper - he appears to be a man child, cannot handle criticism of himself and he doesn't tolerate it directed at other council members or department heads at meetings. Our "president's" ego has gotten the better of him and city Hall. The longer he is in the big chair, the more he behaves like a dictator.
ReplyDeleteThe mismanagement of Hudson is quickly spiralling out of control, and Tom is a big part of the reason it is.
As John Friedman recently commented on this blog, the only solution to the dysfunction at City Hall appears to be COMPLETELY STARTING OVER! I have been convinced of this for years. Practically the entire governance system at City Hall is BROKEN and we are the victims, while Tom and Kamal smile, get raises
and act like nothing is wrong. We all deserve a whole lot better, because this is no way to properly run a city. There is too much selfishness and amateurism at City Hall to get things done and keep residents involved in the democratic process, if there is one left at City Hall.
