Remembrance of Floods Past

The high water at the waterfront and the apparent damage to the Hudson Power Boat Association clubhouse after the tidal surge of Frankenstorm recalled the flood on the waterfront that happened in 1996 when a January thaw caused the ice jams on the Mohawk and Hudson rivers to break up, with disastrous results. These pictures from that time were taken by John Cody and are published here with his permission.

  1. I remember the huge heavy sheets of ice piling up against the Boat Club bldg and thinking how extremely well built that is to have withstood that much pressure. Thank you whoever built it for the Ferry Landing Building whenever ago!
