Hello, Dumpster!
Well hello, Dumpster!
It's so nice to have you back where you belong.
This little variation on Jerry Herman's lyrics came to mind the other morning when, while out walking with William, I noticed that the Salvation Army dumpster, the cause of much disgust and consternation back in August, had returned to its proper spot, discreetly tucked up next to the side of the building.
In August, for reasons not fully comprehended, the dumpster was repositioned at the corner of Allen and Third, becoming the first thing to greet visitors as they drove up the hill into Hudson. When Code Enforcement Officer Peter Wurster ordered it moved, it was repositioned at Partition and Third--still clearly visible to anyone entering the city by way of Route 9G. In recent days, however, thanks to a change in command at the local Salvation Army and the intervention of a member of their board of directors, the dumpster has returned to a location that conforms with the requirements of City of Hudson code.
Who ever thought the moving of a dumpster from an "in your face" location back to it's proper place would be so complicated and take so long to resolve?!
