It's been a couple of weeks since Gossips paid a visit to Hudson Depot Lofts, the new Galvan building going up on North Seventh Street, in the part of the city Galvan has dubbed the "Depot District." On this morning's visit, it was discovered that the structure has grown another floor.
All the windows in the rendering are the same size rectangles. The only similar long rectangular openings for windows on the actual building are on the first floor in one of the four sections. Everything else is a smaller square or a squat rectangle. What up with that?
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happened, albeit on a smaller scale, when they were constructing 215 Union Street. https://gossipsofrivertown.blogspot.com/2014/06/happy-to-be-mistaken.html As a reader informed me then, sheathing is typically applied in whole sheets, to save time and provide a more solid covering, and in the process, the sheathing often covers all or part of window and door openings. Once in place, the sheathing can be cut to reveal the entire opening. I expect that's what is happening here as well.
