It is unclear when this was installed. It was only recently brought to Gossips' attention by Mark Allen. Outside 325 Columbia Street, the location of the Columbia County Health Department, there is a machine dispensing "Harm Reduction Supplies": free drug test strips and Narcan kits. It is located at the southeast corner of the building, just across Prison Alley from the PARC Park and the entrance to Mel the Bakery.

This is a great start. I salute the Columbia County Health Department for embracing harm reduction strategies. There is also a machine in front of the Mental Health Association at 710 Union Street.
ReplyDeleteI encourage everyone to get some Narcan and learn how to administer it (it's easy). Keep it somewhere you can get to quickly and tell the other members of your household where it is. Especially if you have a child, roommate or loved one who uses or you suspect might be using.
The Columbia-Greene Addiction Coalition is also promoting a program to get narcan into every bar in the county and will train employees how to use it. Upper Depot Brewery, Li'l Deb's Oasis and The Maker have been supplied and trained. It would be great to see every bar and restaurant in Hudson join in. You might just save a life.
