The rain and warmer temperatures have done a lot to diminish the snowbanks along the streets, and tonight and tomorrow morning, the Department of Public Works will finish the job.
Snow removal will begin tonight at midnight and continue until noon on Tuesday. DPW is setting out "No Parking" signs to indicate which side of the street will be cleared. By 11:00 p.m. tonight, Monday, December 29, cars must be moved to the opposite side of the street. Cars that remain on the side with the "No Parking" signs will be ticketed AND towed by the Hudson Police Department.
It's telling to note that while City Hall/DPW is not labelling this a snow emergency, that is how they are treating it. Only in snow emergencies does DPW put up signs and HPD calls tow trucks. The rain and warmth have taken far too much of the snow away for a de facto emergency response. Far too many cars will be towed unnecessarily at great expense to the owners thanks to a city that can't communicate properly or at all to residents. For what, 3 inches of snow at the curb? Plus, more snow is on the way tomorrow. This is ridiculous. DPW is paying workers $25/30 an hour to put up temporary NO PARKING signs all over town on the sides of streets where cars are not supposed to be parking tonight anyway. Where are the permanent overnight parking rule signs?
ReplyDeleteBoy, the tow companies are salivating and probably already lined up waiting to swoop in tonight.
You have to be the biggest complainer. Are you ever happy? You’re like the old guy telling kids to get off of his lawn. Can’t you just be a good citizen for once in your life?
ReplyDeleteLOL! Monster House! Seriously though, she does a great job keeping us informed. I get more intel from her than the news!
DeleteTo BILL’s credit, the lack of clear and concise communication is the root of the problem. As someone who actually looks for this kind of information, it is bizarre how difficult it is to locate and then how confusing it is to understand.
ReplyDeleteAble - it's no accident!

ReplyDeleteBut Bill, they are kinda right... what do you love about Hudson? Name one thing... like a gratitude journal... it helps...
