Transition in the Eleventh Hour

The Register-Star reports today that Mayor Kamal Johnson has finally set a date to meet with his successor, Joe Ferris: "Mayor Kamal Johnson sets transitional meeting with Mayor-elect Joseph Ferris." The meeting, which according to Johnson will answer "anything he needs to know before January 1," is scheduled to take place on Monday, December 22.

The article also reveals the plans for Ferris's swearing in. There will be a ceremonial swearing-in at Hudson Hall on Saturday, January 3. The time of this event was not disclosed. His official swearing-in will take place on Friday, January 2. At his ceremonial swearing-in, Ferris is expected to outline his agenda for his first hundred days in office.

    1. One day, when you grow up, Kamal, you’ll realize how oblivious and ignorant you sound. The saddest part is that, I suspect, you’re not really that oblivious. But perhaps you are that much of a narcissist that you can’t tell how insipid you seem.

    2. Dear sir,

Only you will miss seeing yourself on Gossips.

But fear not, there is still plenty of fraud and incompetence to chase at HCSD and the County.

Your name will likely return to the news as your insider network meets daylight and a few buried scandals surface, with unhappy headlines arriving right on schedule over the next two years.

You still have a few unanswered FOILs and a sealed lawsuit. Wrap those up before year-end and you might leave something resembling closure.

If you are looking for something else to ponder, consider this: if you had taken the Democratic primary seriously, and campaigned with even 10 percent of the money and energy you spent in the general, you would very likely not have been fired.

Luckily for Hudson, you chose comfort over reality, and, as it turns out, hard work.

p.s. Would you like a gift subscription to The Free Press? There is a whole world beyond Hudson waiting for you.

    3. Imagine being so incredibly petty and childish that you take umbrage with articles about keeping dogs safe. Perhaps you would take that issue more seriously if you ever set foot on the city sidewalks when you weren't getting paid to do so.

Bad riddance. Let the door hit you on the way out.

  3. Mayor Johnson - At the time of my open letter to you, I had not read you had finally scheduled a meeting with Mayor-elect Ferris the day before. Though it does feel late in the game, THANK YOU for doing the right thing.
The city, its residents and the Mayor-elect appreciate this.
    Carla
