Alderman Rich Volo (Fourth Ward) has been working to make Hudson a Clean Energy Community and to improve the City's energy sustainability. One of his current initiatives is bringing publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations to the parking lot behind City Hall.
Last week Volo announced that the City had received the first of two grants needed to fund the charging stations. The $22,000 grant from National Grid will pay for the digging and construction work needed to connect the charging stations to the grid. Volo is awaiting word on a similar grant from ChargeNY, which will pay for the actual chargers. No money from the City budget is being spent to establish the charging stations, but the $1.75 an hour fee for charging vehicles will go into the City coffers.
