Having the Hudson Farmers' Market in January is an experiment this year. To keep the year-round structure, shoppers are urged not to miss a weekend. To encourage that, the HFM is introducing an incentive program.
When you go to the market tomorrow, stop by the Info Table and pick up this punch card.
Then, every week for the fifteen weeks until the market returns to its warm weather location, return to the Info Table to have your card punched. If between now and April your card is punched ten times, you will receive a beautifully designed, well-constructed, long-lasting HFM tote bag.
So head on over to the Hudson Farmers' Market tomorrow morning. You will find it in its winter location at the Hudson Elks Lodge, 201 Harry Howard Avenue. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
It's a tough ask since several vendors are not there in January, including Samascott's. No apples here in amazing apple land? No thanks. Making the parking convenient might help, too. It's just not a good location, practically in Greenport.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the issue with parking tho? You have all the high school parking at your disposal.
DeleteKlein Kill Fruit Farm will be at market the next couple weeks with precious local apples. Samascott has other things going on right now, but they are expected to be back in February. Also, there are tons of parking spots in the Elks lot for HANDICAP and ELDER patrons who cannot walk down the slight incline into the lot from the street.
DeleteWalk from the lot to the elks lodge by going down a short embankment off the sidewalk that can be wet, snowy, icy and slippery. As it likely was today. Head back up to the sidewalk when you are done and try once again not to slip and fall old man and woman. That's an issue. That is THE issue. It's rude and disrespectful and rather unwise for the market people to expect nearly all of their customers to walk there, I'm sorry. The Elks could get sued, the city could get sued, the market could get sued and someone could get hurt or die. This is not at all true at the downtown market.
ReplyDeleteI truly wish that the city of Hudson would invest in a community space for the market in the center of town. The Winter location is so far away from the town center and its businesses. It’s a real shame.
ReplyDeleteI've done the winter market at all three locations. Elks is easiest to work. They have been very accommodating to our vendors. There are problems with all the locations we've had. People can come or not come-- in the meantime, we'll still be hosting the market each Saturday.
