Not to Be Missed

Francesca Olsen's report in this morning's Register-Star on the salaries of municipal employees: "6 of 7 city earners breaking $70K are in police dept." Does it make us feel safer to know that six of the twenty-four officers in today's HPD are making more than $70,000 a year?

  1. As a taxpayer supporting the HPD lifestyle I believe it should be mandatory that all the HPD reside within the Hudson tax district. Maybe then there would be a stronger connection based on reality.

  2. No wonder the Hudson Police Department is fifty percent of the town budget !

  3. And, with 27 officers for our roughly 6700 citizens, we have a higher police:citizen density than NYC! I'd feel safe if I ever saw them do anything besides bust brown-skinned people for smoking pot (and threatening my middle-aged wife with a ticket for an open container for throwing an empty plastic wine cup in a street trash can after leaving a recent book signing). Note to the HPD -- it's just as illegal for you to use a cell phone while driving as it is for the rest of us!
