We are now well into the month of November, the election is behind us, many of us are reeling from the realization that the majority of Americans care more about the price of groceries than the preservation of democracy and the rule of law, but in the face of all that doom and gloom, here is what's happening this week in Hudson.
- Monday, November 11, is Veterans Day, originally called Armistice Day, to commemorate the end of World War I, "the war to end all wars," on November 11, 1918. The observance of the day in Hudson, 106 years later, begins at 10:00 a.m. in Seventh Street Park. There the marchers will assemble before parading down Warren Street to Fourth Street and then to the Columbia County courthouse, where there will be speeches.
- On Tuesday, November 12, the Common Council holds its informal meeting at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at City Hall and on Microsoft Teams. Click here for the link to join the meeting remotely.
- On Wednesday, November 13, the Housing Trust Fund Board meets at 5:30 p.m. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at City Hall and on Microsoft Teams. Click here to join the meeting remotely.
- Also on Wednesday, November 13, the Planning Board meets at 6:30 p.m. The agenda includes several things that have been before the Planning Board for a while now and one new thing, classified as "Old Business": Colarusso's application for a conditional use permit for its dock operation. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at City Hall and on Zoom. Click here to join the meeting remotely.
- On Thursday, November 14, the Public Works Board, tasked with implementing Hudson's Sidewalk Improvement District legislation, meets at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at City Hall and on Microsoft Teams. Click here for the link to join the meeting remotely.
- On Saturday, November 16, Building Permit: A preview of new businesses coming to Hudson, NY, in 2025 debuts on Warren Street and its environs and on YouTube. Building Permit is a collaborative video and full-city installation created by Mark Allen and The Hudson Wail.

We haven't had a full-blown Hudson meltdown in a hot few weeks. Colarusso re-appearing in front of the Planning Board will fortunately fix this.
ReplyDeleteLet's see how long the PB in conjunction with Hudson's ever concerned citizenry will be able to prolong the entertainment this time.
Right now, nobody we voted for is in charge of the launch codes because of Joe Biden’s concealed senility. American voters are preserving democracy by correcting this dangerous situation and removing the corrupt people who created it. Thanks for the calendar update.
ReplyDeleteYour take on how we got another trump term is spot on, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes, it’s Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. People will try to feed their families ahead of some esoteric belief in the theory democracy.
DeleteWithout said esoteric belief, the lower levels are unattainable and unsustainable. Without protection of basic needs like air, water and consumables there is not much to live for. See you in six months. Evidently core education has eroded to the point of chaotic thinking and tragic choices.
ReplyDeleteYes, those uneducated dummies should know what’s best for them. Let them eat cake.
DeleteChaotic thinking and tragic choice is the democratic policy of arresting teenagers carrying guns, and then releasing them with appearance tickets.
ReplyDeleteChaotic thinking and tragic choices is often made by parents purchasing guns for their teenagers and allowing access.
DeleteSays someone who apparently never had to worry about the price of groceries
